Winter Water Pump Tips

Winter Water Pump Tips
With the arrival of winter, it is getting colder and colder, with temperatures in some areas reaching below zero degrees Celsius, especially in the north where outdoor temperatures often reach minus 10 to 30 degrees Celsius. So in addition to daily maintenance, we also need to pay attention to the following antifreeze measures for our pumps.
Firstly, when our pump stops running, it is necessary to ensure that the internal liquid is drained and to check if the pipeline sinks. If there is any water storage area, drainage should be carried out to ensure that there is no liquid accumulation in the pump body, especially water. Unlike other substances, water shrinks and expands due to heat and cold, and its volume increases when it freezes, which in severe cases can damage the pump body.
Secondly, when our pump is in an outdoor environment, we can cover it with waste towels and clothing to achieve insulation effect.
Thirdly, our pump components, such as impellers, mechanical seals, bearings, sealing rings, check valves, and other vulnerable parts, should also be regularly inspected while ensuring sufficient spare parts. If severe wear and surface rust are found, they should be replaced in a timely manner.
Fourthly, clean the dismantled screws with diesel oil, apply engine oil, and reinstall them to prevent rust and corrosion.
Fifth, due to the low temperature, it may seriously affect the internal lubrication of the motor. Insufficient lubrication may lead to bearing wear and other situations. We can use the principle of the motor's own heating to paste a film of appropriate size at its ventilation port, which can effectively control the entry of cold air and generate enough heat to ensure the normal operation of the internal lubricating grease
Sixth, for pumps and pipelines that have already frozen, it is recommended to rinse them with warm water to thaw them. It is not advisable to directly bake them over fire or scald them with boiling water. To avoid cracking the pump body or pipeline.
It is common for pumps to freeze in cold winter, especially in northern regions. We need to take appropriate precautions and maintenance to ensure the service life of the pump. If you have any questions, please call us, and Chongqing Sinyane Pump will be happy to serve you.
